Our Film Night takes place on the first Friday in the month at 7.30pm in the Elizabeth Wilkie Hall. With recent releases, popcorn, refreshments and a midway interval when we can catch up with friends and have a chat; it is an event that we all look forward to. All are welcome, come early to get a good seat.

Films for 2021

Fri Oct 8th   7.30pm – To Olivia (PG).  The story of the tribulations behind best-selling children’s novelist Roald Dahl’s marriage to Academy Award winning actress Patricia Neal.

The somewhat unlikely pair – an in-demand Hollywood actress and a burgeoning children’s author – find their relationship put to the test, and ultimately strengthened, by tragic events. Set between New York, England and Los Angeles in the early 60s, it tells the tale of Dahl’s struggles while writing some of his most famous works and Neal’s return to acting. Starring Hugh Bonneville as Roald Dahl and Keeley Hawes as Patricia Neal with Geoffrey Palmer (in his last film) as Geoffrey Fisher.

 

Fri Oct 29th  7.30pm – Dream Horse (PG). Twenty years ago pone woman convinced her neighbours to buy, rear and train a thoroughbred racehorse, Dream Alliance. Their unlikely story is revealed in this feel good film. Starring: Toni Collette, Damian Lewis, Joanna page and Owen Teale.

 

Fri Dec 10th  7.30pm – Downton at Christmas (PG).The worldwide phenomenon Downton Abbey, becomes a grand motion picture event, as the beloved Crawleys and their intrepid staff prepare for the most important moment of their lives. A royal visit from the King and Queen will unleash scandal, romance and intrigue that will leave the future of Downton hanging in the balance…
